In this talk we show some new relationships between the maximum power point and the short-circuit and open-circuit points of the characteristic curve of a solar panel. These relationships have been identified from the analysis of nearly one million of I-V curves provided by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) of the USA. The obtained relationships, together with some methods of extraction of the single diode model parameters, and in combination with some optimization techniques, allow the reconstruction of incomplete voltage-current curves, particularly those obtained from solar panels operating at their point of operation. These results add insight about the state of a solar panel working in real time without having to short-circuit or disconnect it.

Keywords: relationship of PV SDM remarkable points, reconstruction of incomplete SDM curves, real time SDM parameters, optimization techniques for SDM parameter extraction
